1. If affinity is enabled on Basic History service, ensure it also allow the troublesome client to connect. I recommend ending all affinity rows with "All nodes" to avoid this from happening. Selecting <no affinity> will allow all to connect, in random order.
2. Ensure all required software is installed on the client. If log is residing in e.g. IM History of Information Manager node, you could theoretically be blocked from reading IM logs from if the IM client software is not installed in the client.
The ABB Diagnostic Collection Tool has an excellent function to quickly list all installed software in a system (DCT->Analyze->Analyze Software->All nodes in system->Compare...)
3. Ensure hosts files and DNS are correct. Maybe OPC DA data is fetched OK from ASCS2 while OPC HDA (history) is not possible to read because hosts file or DNS has error for the client or ASCS1. Not likely, but the hosts file has caused trouble in the past. In 5.0 it shall more or less be empty (except for the loopback address) unless you are running Windows for Workgroups. In Workgroup mode, you must manually ensure that all hosts files are correct (in version 5.1, RNRP attempts to take care of this).
