800xA SMS redundancy SW and HW is that possible
We are searching for a solution where the SMS functionality is working redundant for both SW and HW.
We have a system with 2 AspectConnectivity servers(ASCS) that can run the SW redundancy.
The problem is that the 800xA SMS and Email Extension does not run redundant. If the Aspect Connectivity server that runs the service for SMS and Email messages shuts down, no messages will be send, and that is not acceptable.
We need a solution that can handle:
1. If one server crash the SMS functionality must switch to the other server
2. If modem1 of the 2 SMS modems is down, the SMS must be send from modem2
We would prefer to use 800xA standard solution, but if there are other suggestions, they are welcome.
Due to cyber security, we prefer a solution that do not need internet connection, but internet based suggestions are also welcome.
I hope someone has a solution that is running well in one or several plant, or that someone has a suggestion that we have not thought of.
As with the Property Transfer and Soft Alarm the Messenger service has been programmed to "work alone". Substantial changes in these services are required to enable them to run in parallel like Basic History and OPC DA Connector.
I know sites using external e-mail to SMS service to avoid having to rely on local SMS device. Still same Messenger is used to send e-mail; and with no connection to internet there will be no SMS sent. Local SMS device is probably more robust.

We have made an quasi redundant SMS and e-mail messaging solution for a dutch customer. Basics is that we have TWO services running. (So no redundant service) One on each CS. these two service work in parrallel, and we have made some special configuration in the scheduler so that only one SMS modem sends the SMS out.
