Faceplate error not visible
We are using 800xA 5.0.0 SP2
Recently we tried to setup 3 client stations as AC 800M Client (automatic installer wit predefined profile) all with XP OS with SP3.
The installation was succesful and also the link as node to the primary aspect server works well.
Accessing to the workplace also works fine and the main GUI is showed correctly, but when we try to open a faceplate (any) by clicking over different objects a blank faceplate appears.
The message report is not so useful:
Something went wrong when trying to show the aspect"
Clearly on the aspect server machine and in another workstation (the wasn't setup by us) the faceplate are visible and works fine.
Any suggestion? Missing components or settings?
Thanks in advance
Please check all third party softwares (Pre-Requisites) are installed properly without any error - Verify with the working client machine.
Please check all the ABB Softwares and "rollups" are installed correctly - verify with aspect server machine and working client machine.(It looks like some rollups might not installed in your client machine)
If you still face the problem, please contact your regional support centre for the assitance.
and many thanks for your reply.
In fact we found that it is necessary to install also the rollup package 800xA 5.0.0 SP2 RU1f, but we encounter a problem that we worked around in automatic installation.
Any ABB installer executable that we try to launch wasn't able to show the selection screen (left panel) so we are unable to perform the installation, we can only try to run directly the msi package. But for this rollup isn't possible (the msi ask to launch the setup.exe).
We are wondering why the installers doesn't show the page?? (only the bottom button are displayed but the "Install" is disabled).
Your help is really apreciated in order to solve thi issue.
What kind of media are you attempting to install from?
Original DVD or a custom USB drive, CDROM, etc?
The installation must be done through setup.exe and requires a number of accompanying OCX, DLL and EXE files which is located on the original media, but that may have been removed or altered if the software has been "repackaged" onto another media (USB stick, CDROM, etc).
On the 5.0 SP2 RevA Updates DVD media (article number 3BSE049063R520 Rev A) the rollup is located in a ZIP file named: 3BSE055178_-_en_System_800xA_-_800xA_Base_5.0.0_SP2_RU1f.zip that looks like this:
thanks for your reply.
The source DVD/CD was copied into a server backup folder that folder is shared on the local workgroup. (we tried also by copying locally on the client node).
The package is complete so the ocx are present (as in your screenshot) as well as for the other ABB installers that we have (stored on server disk).
Could be something related to security settings of the browser? (IE8) Or peraphs add-on components of IE?
Any suggestion? At present we can not proceed with the installation so the nodes are unusable.
Its probably time to contact the regional ABB support center and ask them to assist/initiate a support case.
MSVBVM60.DLL (VB runtime) may be crucial - check it.
3rd party software must be at what 3BUA000500 states (too new IE usually make Plant Explorer to have issues; install usually proceed).
A) Try removing 800xA Base and reinstall it
B) Try a newer revision (B,C,D or E) just to see
C) OS reinstall from Microsoft DVD not OEM
We have the same problem.
Most probably that is due to the ABB rollups, installed on servers and missing on clients, that you install. Rollups normally you can download or ask ABB and they should provide them for free. Sometimes on installation media, comming with the servers these rollups are not available, and are installed on the servers after that.
Check the installed roll-ups on the server and install them on clients. No reinstallation on workplaces needed.
thanks in advance for the contribution.
We already know that we need to install a RollUp package in order to solve the starting issue.
But know we are facing with a very singular problem.
In the station where we need to install the roll-up the installer is showing a blank page instead of the regular one (as if the autoexec.ini file was missing but it is present), so we are not able to proceed with the installation.
As depicted below
The only "special" aspect w.r.t. another work station, in which the installer runs correctly, is that the version of XP is english with the applied MUI in Italian.
At present we are performing several verification in order to solve the issue but the attemps until now wasn't succesful.
At present the VB6 DLL seems to be the same or slightly newer.
Thanks in advance if you could give us a hint.
