What is the best way to terminate the Modbus wiring to allow one of the segment ends to be powered down.
The system has redundant 803F controllers. The controllers are mounted in separate enclosures. Each enclosure has the I/O in it to control a compressor. The system is set up to allow one enclosure to be powered down for maintenance or power fail of that area. The system is currently terminated at each FI820F internally. When power is lost to ether enclosure the mobus communications is lost.
I think you should be able to do this by using redundant power supplies in each cabinet. The idea would be to put one powersupply in each cabinet (primary and secondary) for the begining termination and one power supply in each cabinet (primary and secondary) for the end termination (for a total of 4).
I have not done this before, but I think in principle it should work.
Has anyone else done this before or have another suggestion?
