Is it possible to use aspects of 1 OPC server to 2nd OPC Server..?
I wants to know that for IEC OPC Servers in control structure, is it possible to use the aspects from 1 OPC server to another. As shown in Pic-1 is it possible to show the parameters from AA1OPC1 to AA2OPC1. for eg. Voltage. AA1OPC1contains all the relays from which i will monitor the voltage but AA2OPC1 contains rest all parameters. My intension is to show all of them together so that trends can be obtained.
I tried copy paste of item ID from AA1OPC1 to AA2OPC2 but it does not worked.
Did some one ever tried ths method. or is their some other method except from merging the SCD files.?
For obvious reasons, an item ID belonging to OPC server A will hardly work with server B unless server A and B have same address space (=are redundant).
Avoid property transfer as it has high overhead and should really only be used as last resort when slowly transporting a few and non-critical properties to other OPC server.
If you want objects on the AA2 branch to expose properties from the AA1 branch you could add Property Translation aspects on the AA2 objects.
- AA1Object; Property Translation; ProxyProperty="AA2\SomeObject\Aspect:Property"
Subscribing to the AA1Object's property translation (called ProxyProperty in my example above - but you choose the name, even same will work) will return the same result as subscribing directly from the source on AA2.
Please note that Property Translations does not support OPC caching so process graphics will be a bit slower to load the subscription when using translations.
You can also add property logs on translated properties for trending of them.
