Path number setting in AC800M Ethernet
We have controller network which is in ring configuration, Secondary control network was not working after changing the pathnumber to 1 it starts working. Also switch we are using VLAN for plant and control network.
This setting is normally not configured , what is the real purpose of this setting as we can give maximum 0 or 1 only, please find the attachment.
Why not study the System 800xA Networking User's Guide, it explain RNRP and what a path is?
For implicit RNRP configuration in AC 800M, ONLY change IP address and network mask.
Do not change any other parameter (except for "Enable channel" on secondary port, default is "disabled") - they are automatically calculated by RNRP when using implicit addressing mode.
Since you changed more than IP and mask, controller changed from implicit to explicit adressing mode. When you want to declare a redundant network, you must set path to 1 (=secondary) since 0 mean primary.
Try to stay on implicit adressing mode and all RNRP parameters are calculated automatically for you:
172.16.80.151/255.255.252.0 = primary path, area 20, node 151
172.17.80.151/255.255.252.0 = secondary path, area 20, node 151
The users guide I mentioned at first explain how the bits in the IP address is used. x.16.x.x. = primary path. x.17.x.x = secondary path.
Send Period and Max Lost can be left at 0, then the settings on CPU level (one level up) will be taken.
Last, remember, change of IP or mask require a controller reset to take effect. Change of RNRP parameters (if you use explicit, or try to go to implicit by setting 0) does not need controller reset. RNRP in controller will detect change and perform "soft" restart at download.
