OPC AE Server, Alarm Discareded- Connection Error
I am getting the subject event in systems event list, (snspshot attached, with event details). 172.16.80.209 is controller node (PM865). Please note that node is working fine and also getting all process alarms from this node. All services are also in green state in Afw service connection status.
I am unable to trace the cause of this event. Please guide.
In the list it looks like you are getting a large number of alarms in a very short period of time and the AE is getting flooded and basically discarding alarms that it can't process.
What happens at the start of the alarm burst - it looks like the alarms are coming from a service somewhere rather than a controller.
Rob is right, but volume/burst is due to a recent download (The "Refresh is needed" event is triggered from download and will have all standing (non-idle) alarms resent at once).
The acknowledge failures can be due to simultaneous ack attempts from multiple users or quick repeated calls for "Ack all in list/on page".
I lean towards an internal problem between the AC 800 OPC AE server and the System 800xA Event Collector service.
Probably a nuissance alarm, but I recommend filing a support case with your regional ABB support center before closing this out.
You could try restarting the AC 800 OPC Server service in Windows.
Root cause could also be something downloaded to the controller, but I'm not suggesting to power off the controller(s) to have them cleared. You could try if your process allow a black start. But you are probably better off waiting for feedback on the support case.
