Is CCT 600 tool really nessasary when engineering IEC 61850 to 800xA?
Hi,
I'm about to do some IEC 61850 engineering, and find the new simplified engineering workflow for substation automation in 800xa rev C. FB4 update, still to be combersome.
1. While IET-CCT tool in no longer required. I still need the CCT 600 tool to do the communication engineering and LD/LN mapping to the .SCD file. Why can't I use the PCM600 for that? While i'm no export in PCM600 - I find it stange that you can do goose and client server communication setting but you still have to redo some of this in CCT 600?
2. From the manual the step is to use import individual .CID files and then generate the final .SCD file (for import in 800xA/OPC server) with CCT 600 tool. Is it possible to start by importing a PCM600 .SCD file and then only the mapping to assign IED LNs to bay equipment is needed?
In my project I don't have any CI868 interface only MMS to 800xA.

It's basically possible to import the configuration from pcm600 directly into the OPC server and export the .scd from there and import it into 800xA. You'll then need to manually insert the objects in functional structure...
However if you have no experience with it i strongly suggest to follow the Workflow as described in the manuals.

There is a way to do this without CCT600, CCT600 is used only to map LN into the object type (CBR).
A easier way would be import SCD, exported from PCM600 directly into the OPC server. And using tools such as XMLmarker you can map LN into the objects (Cut and paste). This way even the itemID of all the signals get mapped automatically using IEDsignalmapping aspect available in FP4. We have done this procedure for few projects, however this procedure was not working for 670series relays.
I also don't know whether this is a recommended procedure, but it works
