See data from Basic_Back up
Hi Geof, I saw in you profile that you have a large experience with historic datas on 800xA System and maybe you can help me.
I configured a backup in Manintenance Structure about Basic_BackUp, the service is running well.
When the BackUp finish I have a folder with 30GB of data.
I'l like to know if have a way to see that data without restore this backup, because I think that if I restore this data I maybe will lose my actual data and it's not what I really want.
in the log configuration I have the option "Restore Log From BackUp", and I when I chose it, appear a message that the log was successful, but I don't know to where it goes. Follow attched some images.
I really need help on this assue.
Thanks a lot for your attention .

1. The advhtlogdataviewer.exe tool can be used to view log files or backup files offline
2. The restored data will be written to the existing & running log.
3. The advhtarchivetool.exe tool can be used to merge existing log with backup (this is described in the on-line upgrade guide somewhere; search for the tool name)
Its difficult to see the results of restoring a backup to a non-empty log; but in principle, if you were to restore a log covering 14 days storage period with a backup that is 1 month old, you would be able to use the "Settings" = Read oldest + "Read" button to read data older than 14 days (which would not be possible without first loading the backup).
However, my present whereabouts prevents me from providing an example of this incl images.
Basic History is a very simple historian; but simple to use as well. Loading a backup (or even replacing a log file with a backup using Windows Copy) should in theory replace the current log with the one you restored.
