Reduced cost lab setup for AC450
We are trying to set up a small test-lab for Advant Controller AC400 Series (AC400, AC410, AC450). Our focus is to reduce the setup and maintenance cost. The MB300 network components (PU410 and CS513) are quite expencive and will only function as interface modules in our lab setup.
What will be the minimum hardware requirements to be able to do simple logic downloads and online programming using AMPL and the tools in Control Builder A (CBA): Function Chart Builder, Application Builder and On-line Builder?
One solution is to use the following setup:
* Computer with Control Builer A (CBA) installed
* PU410 for MB300 network interface to computer
* CS513 for MB300 network interface to controller
Is there a simpler solution, maybe using a serial point-to-point connection between the controller and the computer?

The cheapest solution is second hand parts.
For an AC450, the minimum setup is a Rack, Backplane, 24v Power Supply ( you need to use the correct supply, you can't use a switched mode supply) Voltage Regulator, a CPU and a Firmware PCMCIA card. You can connect direct to the CPU via a serial cable from an engineering RTA board (PU516 if I recall correctly) in the engineering PC.
You need a CS513 and an SC510 submodule carrier if you want to connect to an HMI or OPC server, and in this case you can also use the PU410 or an RTA board for engineering.
