Is it possible to have timestamp from IED for alarms(events) in a 800xA Alarm(event list) using CI868 ( IEC61850)
Hi.
We are using CI868 module for IEC-61850 communication in a station with 6 ABB protection relays (type REG670).
We have few questions about CI868 module.
Question Nr. 1
Is it possible ( and how?) to have timestamp from IED for alarms and events in a 800xA Alarm and event list using MMS RCB for LN's other than XCBR and CSWI?
Question Nr. 2
Is it possible ( and how?) to have timestamp from IED for alarms and events in a 800xA Alarm and event list using Goose ?
Thanks in advance..

Regarding your question.
Timestamp is done by the IED device itself. then you communicate this information. Depending IED you may transfer this data (register of events) to where designated. Through MMS as you suggest you can take this information from the breaker control logical node.
Through goose you would have to do some specific eng in the LN and configuration of IEDs. but this is not straight forward as it is not intended for goose communication to transfer the Timestamps. What you may do is a trigger that when you recieve the event in goose that triggers a Event block and generates a timstamp, but this timestamp will have the time of the controller and not of the IED.
So best is to focus on the Timestamp of IED and the best way is through the MMS communication.

Question Nr. 1
Is it possible ( and how?) to have timestamp from IED for alarms and events in a 800xA Alarm and event list using MMS RCB for LN's other than XCBR and CSWI?
Ans: In SV5.1 FP4 release we upport only LNs XCBR and CSWI which can send MMS commands and these two LNs only can have Alarms and Events in a 800xA Alarm and Event list when used the signal ID of those LNs with Alarm condition blocks.
See Uer Manual 9ARD171385-510 A. AC800 M IEC61850 Engineering and Configuration. Section 3.CI868 support of Sequence of Event.
Question Nr. 2
Is it possible ( and how?) to have timestamp from IED for alarms and events in a 800xA Alarm and event list using Goose ?
Ans: NO. Till SV5.1 FP4(The latest release) goose does not support external time stamp.
Hi,
1. Yes this is possible .When you are using IET600 / CCT 600 to create the dataset for information sent to CI868 via IEC61850 MMS, you will have to drag and drop the time attribute as well. But currently , pocessing of tim tamp is done only for LN XCBR and CSWI .So for any other LN the time stamp is attached at the corollr level. It is a design constraint in our CI868 side .
2. By definition GOOSE being time critical does not bother about the tim of occurence of the event .Moreover , Curren CI868 design does not involve proceessing of time stamp evn if it reachs th CI868 card.So this i agian constraint in CI868 model.
Hope this hlps.
The both questions are related to CI868 limitation
Question Nr. 1
Answer: CI868 will only allow time stamp for the logical node XCBR and XSWI and CI868 will discard the time stamp for ther logical nodes. So it is not possible to configure the time stamp for other LNs
Question Nr. 2
Answer:
Time stamp is not possible through Goose.CI868 will evaluate only value and quality information.
Suppose IED's are connected with 800xa through IEC61850-MMS, then the CET server will transfer the actual time stamp to 800XA alarm and event list.

Sorry I forgot to put hw and sw configuration so here it is:
-800xA sv 5.1 FP4
-cpu:PM861A FW Version: 5.1.1111.0
-CI868 FW Version 5.1.1016.00, HWLib: 3.0-10
