redudant aspect server and connectivity servers with concurent license
I configured 2 engineering workplaces
with combined aspect and connectivity servers to be redundant for each others
as 1 out of 2 configurations and I am using a concurrent license
My problem is that whenever I switch off the primary combined aspect and connecticity server
The secondary one system disabled
Whats wrong with my configuration ?

Are you using a Microsoft Windows Workgroup or domain?
A common fault when using the later is lack of DNS service in domain controller node #2 (the DNS service need to be added manually in DC2).
Additionally, the DNS client settings on all NIC connecting to the client server network(s) must be correct to allow DC2 to be used when DC1 is down. Refer to the System 800xA Network Configuration User's Guide, 3BSE034463-510 for full details.
Can you open a Plant Explorer on ASCS2 when ASCS1 is down?
What happens to already open Plant Explorers?
Have you verified that all services are fully redundant, e.g. Aspect Directory need to execute on both server nodes?
What status is reported for the Aspect Directory service by the AfwServiceStatus.exe tool in ASCS2 when ASCS1 is down?
Check for these points
1) Aspect Directory Service for both the Servers should be up before you try to swithoff any of the AS server.
2) Try to disconnect the Secondary server & again try to connect it back as Reduntant server
3) All the softwares installed in both the servers should be the same
Which system version are you using ?
Is the rnrp on both nodes working fine and able to reach each other?
Is there affnity configured on the services like Aspect Directory
File Set Distribution, etc?
When both nodes are up then check the status of the service Aspect Directory
File Set Distribution in service structure. And then when you switch off the primary see if the secondary is able to run these services or not?
You did not say what happens to already open Plant Explorers on ASCS2, or if any service error codes, messages appear when the problem begins?
You are most welcome to insert more info on this thread (some pictures similar to mine above would be nice) - however, I recommend that you ask your regional ABB support center for assistance.
