Linux community seeks contact
I am the GPIO subsystem maintainer for the Linux kernel.
I am looking for a contact in ABB engineering who is deploying Linux in ABB PLC & similar systems using GPIO for industrial control.
We are designing a new character device for userspace and want input from the industry on how to handle this to meet their needs.
I have heard that industry often override the default Linux GPIO access with their own solutions because what we have is too limited for industrial needs. I want to fix this.
If you can, please provide my details to an apropriate engineer or other point of contact to open a dialog.
Just my opinion as small user of ABB stuff:
ABB uses Windows for PC related products and its own operating systems (or firmware?) for hardware products. I have not seen any Linux related thing from ABB.
Very sad, because I am a fan of Linux and FreeBSD, and I really dislike the direction in which windows developed.
