AC 800M Network Storming Controller Erase
Can anyone please advise that if a network storm is detected on both CNA and CNB ports for the duration of controller boot up that it will erase the controllers application?
I have researched all of the readily avaliable literature however I can find no mention of this feature.
Thanks in Advance
As far as I know, no.
Application will remain in controller at loop and storm detection.
Dual storms (indicating that primary and secondary networks are NOT physically separated as recommended by ABB) may trigger a problem with the RNRP loop detection causing one network port to remain permanently blocked until a parameter change to RNRP has been downloaded (via the remaining open port).
Dual storms may also cause primary to secondary CPU failover within a redundant pair since Ethernet communications are broken for a duration while the protection keep all ports locked down. Reset the failed CPU, download a parameter change to RNRP, eg MaxNoOfOwnAreas and the blocked port should open again, then restore the parameter and perform a second download to come back to the old configuration again.
In doubt, please file a support case with your regional ABB support center. The very latest firmware version 5.1.1-3 has improved protection against simultaneous storms.
Last, make sure primary and secondary networks are truly physically separated throughout their entire length. RNRP and Storm Protection counts on this important measure. Running primary and secondary paths on separate VLAN but on same cable/fibre/switch is *not* a physical separation.
