Difference between Compact HMI and 800xA
Can anyone describe in detail the diffence between Compact HMI and 800 xA.
What are the detal technical difference and features in-between two.
Is there any total IO limitation for these two system.
For yard machine(stacker, reclaimer; IO capacity: 750, profibus interface with IMCC& VVFD-15 nos, wireless Radio modem application for remote monotoring) which one will be most suitable from apllication and maintenace point of view.
Can we use 800xA for any small system.

Hello,
There are many other discussion in this forum regarding your question. It is difficult to explain easy the difference. I'm sure your sales person can explain better the differences and to create the suitable proposal, depends on your output data.
In simple words:
- Compact HMI is typical SCADA solution, you can connect stand-alone PLC's to your Compact HMI (of course many PLC's too), using different drivers and communication protocols, also OPC, which is typical connection to AC800M. You have to create manually connection between Compact HMI (tags) and PLC application (variables). It is not possible mirror - automatic upload of PLC's function blocks and variables from PLC to Compact HMI. But Compact HMI will not require "heavy" servers and other specific issues to create the project
It is intended for stand-alone applications, machinery automation ets, it is cost effective application. I think, this is the right solution for application, as it is described.
- 800xA is integrated system, as called - DCS solution. Both - HMI and controllers are working in same project and there is software integration between HMI and PLC software. PLC is "visible" directly in HMI, you can use many pre-installed, ready for use function blocks, which automatically creates their HMI components.
It is intended generally for bigger projects, plant automation, where a lot of engineering is required. Of course, the size of the project is flexible, depends on licenses you select.
