Freelance ver 9.2 SP1>SP2
Hello,
if I uppgrade from ver 9.2 SP1> 9.2 SP2 will that make the projectfile corrupt,
i.e. must I do a "load whole station" to the CPU.
And, will this affect my licens, i.e. must I have a new licensfile.
The customer has a valid Sentinel.
Best regards

As you have active sentinel, you can upgrade the license to newer version and used the updated license files.
I believe once you install the new version, we would be required to update the firmware & download whole station.
Hello Tore,
You do not need a new license. Freelance only licenses against major/minor versions (e.g. 9.2) service packs will work with the same license file.
Sorry, I can't recall the answer to the project file question. I think it would be better if you are able to do a Load Whole Station, but I'm not sure if it is required.

Brian
Hi Tore,
What do you mean with "make the projectfile corrupt"? Within the same version (9.1) the project should open without issues, sometimes reporting about blocks to update. There can be exceptions, but then it is documented in the release notes. We try to avoid export/import for updated within the same version. If export/import is required, opening the project file will be rejected at all, this is why you should keep up-to-date csv export files.
If you had seen an issue with your project file, please report it to ABB support.
Typically the controller firmware also changes with every version change or service pack. We recommend to update to the correct firmware. Firmware update normally implies a load whole station afterwards.
Since version 10.1 there is an exception to this rule. It sometimes is possible to update a redundant pair without stopping the process using a special procedure. The pair is updated one-by-one, with a synchronization and switchover inbetween. Whether this works or not depends on the changes of the firmware. Updating with a service pack would be a candidate for this option since 10.1, while it is unlikely for bigger version steps.

Jürgen
