AC700F IP Address Configuration
Looking at moving a new project onto our network so I am able to test on various operator stations throughout the office. Just struggling to find some information on how the AC700 IP address can be modified through the diagnostics port?
Basically looking to change everything onto 10.0.22.xx with a 255.255.255.0 subnet from the standard 172.16.xx.xx.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Jason

Hello,
It’s a special case of IP address setting, use diagnostic cable to connect with Controller diag port, user HyperTerminal or Tera Term pro(in case of W7) to access the controller configuration messages.
Hit enter if you are getting some text means you are connected with controller. If not check settings.
Now Press reset button on controller for little longer time (>5 sec) until you can see some changes at run led. Then as controller starts keep on hitting <SPACE> key until text update stops (i.e bootloader configuration enters into input menu )
You can find instructions C – change, T- time, S- save, B- boot.
Press C and you will enter into change mode where you can set IP and subnet mask and other settings,
After changing address press S-Save, and Press B-Boot.
Recommended taking help of some expert from ABB in setting up IP or use document 2PAA103858R0201_M&I_AC700F.pdf before proceeding for configuration.
Note that subnet 255.255.240.0 is needed for time synch. Check this link on AKS @

Hi,
1.Connect Serial cable between AC700F controller and PC
2.Open Hyperterminal/Teraterm(for windows 7 OS) and power off controller
3."PFail" will update in Hyperterminal/Teraterm window if cable is connected properly
4.Power ON controller, data will start updating and keep on pressing "SPACE" bar key till you get "<C>hange, <S>ave, <B>ooting......"
5.press "C" to change the settings, Select [0] will come under "ETH Link Configuration" and press enter
6.Enter your IP address like 10.0.22.xx and press enter
7.Enter your Subnetmask like 255.255.255.0 and press enter till you get "<C>hange, <S>ave, <B>ooting......"
8.Press "S" to save your settings/configuration and press "B" for booting the controller.

Did this work I have been trying to accomplish this but when I try to chage over diag port the terminal window never notices when I push the spacebar to get into the configure menu.

yes, it works.
Note that controller should be in 'STOP' mode. then only boot loader will allow to enter into configuration.
which tool you are using hyper terminal or tera term pro ? the setting should be 9600,8,none,1, flow control : hardware.

I have tried both programs in stop mode. Both Hypertrm and tera term pro see the controller and I have used the settings above. It just doesn't stop when I press the space bar in the 2 seconds allowed. I have tried pressing space as soon as I reset the controller also.

That is strang ! are you getting this line in terminal window
"*** Internal selftest completed, 1st Stage is activating Bootloader... *** after this controller enters into boot loder. and if controller is in stop mode , by hitting space it should enter into configuration. try one thing after you reset or power off/on controller keep hatting space bar. let see if you get success....
