AC800M in fail state
When I was updating the firmware for the controller I accidently held down the init button twice for over 5 seconds eash time. I was intending to remove the firmware instead it wiped the IP settings on the controller so now I can't communicate with it.
I am now trying to use the IP config tool to fix the IP settings.
Firstly the tool asks for the IP config tool asks for the MMS server to be closed down and the PP connections to be aborted. I have checked in wireshark for the MMS and PPP communications, they are not communicating so I think I can assume the server has been closed down.
I have connected the TK212A cable to my computer and the com port(COM5) has been recognised. The computer was not using this port before so I don't think another application is using this port. I have connected the other side of the TK212A cable to COM4, the tool port, as requested. And the backup CPU is off.
However when I go to connect to the controller the connection fails with the warning connection time out error. Despite me pressing the INIT button for longer than 5 seconds straight after the connect button is pressed. The run light does not flash during this time, even though it is supposed to.
Any advice you can provide will be strongly appreciated.

I would suggest, start from scratch. Meaning. downloaf first the firmware serially. Than you can use the IP config tool to re-configure the IP as suggested by the other post here. This should make the trick. Goodluck!
PD Remember TK212 cable to configure the IP.

Please refer manual 3BSE041880-510_A_en_System_800xA_Control_5.1_AC_800M_Getting_Started on "How to set the IP address to the controller"
If the connection fails, a message box indicates Connect failed, Time-Out. The reason may be the following:
The serial cable is not connected correctly.
Connection timeout, too long time elapsed between clicking the Connect button and the system reset of the controller.
In a redundant controller configuration, the backup CPU is on.
IPConfig does not use PPP when communicating with the controller. Before starting IPConfig tool, close down the MMS Server and abort existing PPP connections.
Please check in services.msc whether ABB MMS Server for AC 800M/C is running or not.
First Check the serial cable connection; Close the controller RCU-Link Port by Using the RCU-Llink Terminator(TB852) or RCU-Link cable(TB851).
