OPC tunnel between 2 800xa systems
Hello question, we have 2 separate plants with seperate 800xa domain
Now we won't see Some tags form one plant in the other plant.
The 2 plant are not connect with each other. both plant have a makitron opc server to the IT netwerk
so is it maybe possible to connect the both plants with the makitron tunnel to each other so that we can see tags
if IT possible how can i make it
The officially supported method to interconnect between two 800xA systems is through Multisystem Integration, MI.
In theory it would be possible to use a Generic OPC Network connection across, but this has to be effectuated with outmost care as uploading an entire system is probably going to mess things up (fubar warning!). The standard upload will retrieve & append the *entire* remote OPC server. Many objects are named identically (e.g. "Root") and without turning off the automatic merge function, the uploading system might get "merged" with what the uploader finds in the remote system.
In advanced mode, the upload can be done in two stages where the user can edit the .ocs files before appending its content. That is one way of preventing "merging" the systems. However, hitting the regular upload button will launch a full scaled upload... be careful.
Please contact your regional ABB support center for assistance with the uploader.
DCOM is fragile and complex across domains and larger networks, so I suggest using a tunneller.
However, my primary recommendation is to make use of MI - a function cut exactly for what you are requesting: a way to upload & control a remote system's objects. The MI uploader can be controlled down to individual object level. No need to tunnel MI connections, even poor network bandwidth can be managed to some degree within MI.
Bidirectional connection is not supported by MI (it would create a perpetual loop of alarm & event). One subscribing system can connect to multiple provider systems.
If it's small amount of tags you can go with inbuilt generic opc network by using dcom but in this you have to more work like creating opc item for each in control connection aspect and it doesn't have inbuilt alarm owner so you have to use alarm expression (softalarms).
But to this ensure both are different domain since it uses common transfer account, if it's in workgroup ensure service account should be same in both system.
If you r sending bulk or more signals to transfer between xa system then kindly go for PLC connect but you have to pay for this and it's simple and built in alarm owners and aspect objects to create signals easily and you can make your own faceplates.
If you want to display any one system data in another system then please go for MSI it's also licensed and it works like a actual system of original RAS.
