"AdvaCommand for UNIX, Version 1.8 - Alarm and Event handling" resolves the following:
- Three errors in the Alarm and Event handling have been identified.
1. Remaining alarms in the alarm list and alarms which are not possible to acknowledge.
The error may occur in a system when many alarms are coming in a big burst on a redundant network. When the alarm is acknowledged the process object in the controller node is acknowledged but the presentation in the alarm list still presents the alarm as unacknowledged. The alarm will then remain in the list even when the process object no longer is in the alarm situation. The only way to get rid of the alarm from the alarm list is to use the ‘Delete Alarm’ function.
2. Corrupted alarm lines in the list. E.g. a mix of the object name and the object description or a mix of two object names on the same row. This error may occur in large system with a great number of objects sending alarms to the same operator station.
3. Every alarm and event have identical copies in the lists. E.g. all alarms are doubled in the list. This error may occur after a ‘Retranslate of Object References’ is done, if the operator station itself or the alternative ‘All’ is specified as ‘Node’. Each new retranslation will give another copy of all alarms and events in the lists. A ‘Function Restart’ of the operator station, when all object references are solved, will ‘solve’ the problem. All new alarms will now come in just once. Alarms from before the restart may of course still be doubled in the list. A good rule is to always specify just relevant Advant Controller nodes when you start the retranslation and not to specify ‘All’.
(Note! To solve all object references in a big network may take many hours. The ‘Object Reference Maintenance’ tool may be used to verify that all object references are solved.)
