- Workaround - Check that HPDPS is not activated:
1. Start a terminal window (press System Config - Station… - Terminal Window)
Give the following commands in the terminal window
2. $su -
3. password: vm-guld
4.# vuepad /etc/rc.config.d/pd
5. Check that PD_CLIENT=0
(If PD_CLIENT=1 change it to PD_CLIENT=0)
6. Check that PD_SUPERVISORS="
"
(If anything is written between the termination double quotes - remove that)
7. Save the file (Save in the File menu)
8. Exit the text editor (Close in the File menu)
9. Close the terminal window (Give the commands #exit and then $exit)
Correction
The patch and revision mentioned below will correct problems related to incorrect TCP/IP terminations and the described workaround will become obsolete.
AdvaCommand 1.7
The error is corrected in patch OS1.7-2-PATCH_02
AdvaCommand 1.8
The error will be corrected in AdvaCommand 1.8/4 with planned release July 2000.

- There is a potential risk for ‘freezing’ Operator Station if the TCP/IP network is not terminated properly
The risk for this increases if the ‘HP Distributed Print Services’ (HPDPS) is activated in the HP tool ‘System Administration Manager’ (SAM). HPDPS in SAM shall normally not be used for configuration of printers in AdvaCommand. In AdvaCommand LP Spool is used for printer configuration.
