- You are recommended to use only PCs delivered by ABB
The only way to make sure that the board is running in a new third party PC is to test it together with the Engineering Board.

"Engineering Board DSPU131 may not work in 3’rd party PC’s with PCI bus." resolves the following:
- Engineering Board DSPU131 may not work in 3’rd party PC’s with PCI bus.
The Engineering Board DSPU 131 does not work properly in all third party PCs.
The Engineering Board DSPU131 which is used by AMPL Control Configuration - option On-line Builder on Windows NT or AdvaBuild for Windows on Windows 3.11, is an ISA bus board. Most of today’s PC’s support two busses:
• the "old" ISA bus
• the "new" PCI bus.
On the ISA bus, any board can occupy 3 types of resources:
• I/O addresses
• memory
• interrupts.
The DSPU131 board (Engineering Board) is using two resources:
• I/O addresses, 4 byte at 320 hex (default)
• memory, 16kb starting at C8000 hex.
Since two busses exist in the PC, resources (memory and interrupts) must be explicitly assigned if they are used on the ISA bus. This is done in the BIOS setup of the PC.
In order to use the DSPU131 in a PC with a PCI bus make sure that:
• The BIOS of this PC allows ISA boards to use the memory area C8000-CBFFF.
• The memory area at C8000-CBFFF is not occupied by any other hardware.
• The memory area at C8000-CBFFF is not cashed, shadowed, swapped or moved by the BIOS.
• The I/O addresses required by the DSPU131 are available.
Please note that these are the basic requirements for a PC to host a DSPU131. This does not guarantee, that the Engineering Board works in the PC.
There are many PCs that fulfill the requirements stated above, but the BIOS some- times uses the memory temporarily for other purposes. Then the board does not work. Such a behavior cannot be recognized neither from the BIOS setup nor from other parameters easily accessible.

Good afternoon,
the address window starting at C8000 hex is often/traditionally occupied by the VGA ROM.
For a peripheral board, that choice of a base address was pretty unfortunate...
Any chance of reconfiguring this to D0000 hex ? That tends to be available.
The DSPU131 board has a red piano - what is that good for?
Any chance of getting the answers from ABB docs 3BDS000008R801 and 3BDS000009R501 ?
