Unnecessary Type Circuit Copies if Copying Objects Between Projects in Advant Engineering Workplace 1.2
With AMPL Control Configuration (ACC) you may work in two different ways:
• Cooperating
– In cooperating mode all engineering data are kept together by Advant objects. Each Advant object contains several aspects. The aspects are the entities the different Builders are working on. In this mode the Structure Builder is the tool for navigating through the whole project. Application Builder is not used for navigation. Cooperating mode requires Advant Engineering Workplace (AEW)
• Independent
– Application Builder is used for navigation instead of Structure Builder in case of Advant controller configuration
The problem described in this report refers only to the cooperating mode.
Problem
When you use ACC 1.7/0 in cooperating mode with AEW 1.2 you may experience the following problem:
If you copy or import an Advant object having a DB Element aspect or a Type Circuit aspect from a library project to a work project then the type circuit file of the corresponding aspect in the library project will be copied instead of being referenced.
In case that you copy or import such an Advant object a lot of times you will get a lot of unnecessary type circuit file copies with new file names in the project local TC-directory of the work project. Furthermore you become decoupled from type circuit changes in the library project.
Typically you will experience this problem if you import Board and Signal Advant objects.
Depending on the way you are working you might not notice any functional influence of this problem. But with a large number and a big size of these copied type circuit files you might run into trouble regarding the disk space.
The problem results from an error in the changed type circuit reference handling in the ACC 1.7 integration functions for AEW.
Copying objects with DB Element or Type Circuit aspects that reference their type circuit file within one project does work correctly.
