Inserting CPU module under power – CN 37-072 EN
The safest procedure is to switch off power before inserting thenew CPU!
If due to your process that is not possible (redundancy and round the clock duty),follow the procedure described below.
- Pull out the battery of the link module and check if the Batt. low LED goes on. This reduces the risk of damage and ensures that the Batt. low signal works . Pull out the old CPU. Connect the Diag. connector of the new CPU with the Ext. Batt. connector of the link module (DLM0x) using a standard DSU 141 (former DSU14) cable.
Caution: It is crucial that the link cable works properly. Insert the new CPU into the rack. Insert the battery into the link module.
Watch the „Batt. Low' LED. It should be on before and go off after you put in the battery. Otherwise check it with a new battery.
If the LED does not change its state, the Battery Low detection is damaged.

According to recent findings, for the current DCP hardware modules a special handlingis required, which assures proper grounding while inserting a CPU module under power.
If this handling is not followed, the link module (DLM0x) may get completely damaged,which cuts of the power supply of the whole rack (0 values of all output modules)!
