No free device number after EPI
- Release device numbers via RESET
To prevent this problem, the fuses on both the initialized modules must be removed simultaneously after the EPI. This measure is only necessary for the modules listed under a) to c).
If several device numbers have already been allocated in the system as a result of this problem, the device numbers can still be released if the fuses on previously initialized modules are removed simultaneously.
- Service Station
After a software EPI (mounting position initialization) device numbers may remain in the CE system which no longer belong to any service station.
In the entire CE system there are max. 15 device numbers available for communication between the service station and the multi-function module CMX 40. If several of these numbers are allocated as a result of the problem described above, the error message “ No free device number available in the system” may be displayed when a service station logs back on.
This problem only occurs during a software EPI for the following modules:
Redundant coupling module CMX 40 (CMX40-K)
Redundant feed-through module CMX 40(CMX40-D)
Redundant processing module CMX 40 (CMX40-V) with activated RS485 interface.
- The redundancy of these modules means that the device numbers required for the EPI are not unregistered throughout the system.
