Disk Usage and the /tmp/syscore - files
- Deleting crash logs
If when checking OS or OS/ES disk usage you find an unusually high level of disk usage (80 - 100 %) examine the file system and look for a directory . This directory will be used to deposit large hpux core files when an hpux crash occurs.
The file size will reflect the physical amount of ram in the station. (64 to 128 Meg)
Although removing these files will result in more disk space, the first thing to do is to get a copy of the file on to a tape and forward it to technical support. This file will be forwarded to Hewlett Packard for analysis to determine the specific reason for the crash.
Once the files are archived, they should be deleted from the disk as part of routine administrative housekeeping.
