Installation, logical volumes greater than 8 gig
- Installation, logical volumes greater than 8 gig
NKNK Raid Problem
Logical volume group sizing is based upon the 'maximum physical extensts' (Max PE: default 1016) and 'physical extent size' (PE Size: default 4Mb) values set in the configuration tool. To estimate the maximum size of a logical volume group you multiply Max PE by PE Size. There are other values that are used in this calculation but they are insignificant compared to Max PE and PE Size.
In the case of the OS 1.6/0 installation tape, Max PE is set to 2000 and PE Size is set to 4Mb. In short the OS 1.6/0 installation tape can accommodate disks up to and including 8Gb in size. For example, in order to create a logical volume group large enough for a 9GB disk either increase Max PE to 2500 or increase PE Size to 5Mb in the 'Modify Volume Group Parameters' section of the configuration tool. Either of these values will accommodate 9Gb disks.
Recommendation: Modify Max PE to 2500.
