Subsystem ID, subvendor ID, and target image block sizes become corrupted on the RTAB board
- Reset system parameters
There is a sequence that can cause the subsystem ID, subvendor ID, and target image block sizes to become corrupted on the RTAB board. When this corruption occurs, the OS cannot be rebooted and hangs on black screen.
This was discovered using an OS at 1.7/1 that had the USB keyboard attached.. Basically, if the system is restarted using a shutdown -r or a reboot -q and the USB devices are being connected or disconnected, the OS can hang at black screen.
This was reported in PPR SE 992030.
- start with an OS with a functioning USB keyboard and pointing device do a 'shutdown -r 0' immediately unplug the USB device from the RTAB allow the station to restart fully plug in the USB to the RTAB do an ioscan to verify that the devices are located do a 'shutdown -r 0' allow the station to restart fully
At either step 4 or step 8 the station will hang at black screen. If you open all of the processes in windows, you notice that the RTAB is not located properly and the software never gets downloaded.
To get station to reboot properly:
- restart station with USB attached. during the OS Startup Screen, suspend the startup and open an hpterm window. login as root cd /opt/advant/UXBase/bin ./dxConfigQSpan /dev/opt/advant-PCI0/slvBoard (that's PCI zero, not PCI oh) The following are the correct parameters:Subsystem ID:Hx1ffSubvendor ID:Hx14c5Target image 0 Block Size:Hx100000Target image 1 Block Size:Hx400000 After making the changes, restart the station with a 'shutdown -r 0'.
- OS hangs at black screen during bootup.
