Smart Client 2.2 Rev B upgrade issue with Excel Interface
- When downloaded, the Microsoft KB software does not go back to the MS website to complete.The instructions in the manual are not clear and accurate.

Smart Client 2.2 Rev B Excel Interface installation
During the installation of the Excel Interface, there are a number of Prerequisites specified in Section 7 of the Installation & Configuration manual, 2PAA107391-510 D, pertaining to interfacing with Office 2007. The first two items, “vstor.30.exe” and “vstor30sp1-KB949258-x86.exe” are included in the distribution media. The remaining two items, KB976477 & KB980210, have a requirement to be download from the Microsoft website as indicated in the manual.
When downloading either of these two, there is an interim step where the link provided by MS first downloads the following files, and they must be downloaded to a PC that is attached to the Internet, and remain there for execution:
For KB976477 File = 397965_intl_i386_zip.exe
For KB980210 File = 407060_intl_i386_zip.exe
After initially downloading, (and prior to executing these files), they each must first be “unblocked” to allow access to the MS website for download of the actual KB software, by selecting on the File>Properties. Once “unblock” is selected, the “Apply” button will be available and should then be selected. If this is not done before the file is executed, the “unblock” will no longer be available. (See screen shots below).
When this is complete, then each of these files can be executed, and the result will be to download the actual KB software executable as shown:
For KB976477 File = office-kb976477-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
For KB980210 File = office-kb980210-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
These files can then be moved to PC’s that may or may not be connected to the Internet for execution, such as on an 800xA system or a Virtual machine, VM, image.
