Most of the time, when the "unable to save file" error appears, it relates to inadequate disk space on the disk to which the backups are being saved.
However, it is important to note that before the file is written to the final location (partition), it must be temporarily written to the system drive (C in most cases). For example, let's assume the file Object Type Structure0.afw listed in the error above has a final size of 850mb. You've checked the D partition (where the backup is being saved), and see that there are 20GB free. However, the C partition has only 500MB free. The backup service will be unable to temporarily save (serialize) this entire file to the C partition before writing it to D, and the error 0x80004005 results.
