Licensing Errors when using OPC from 800xA only as an OPC Gateway
System 800xA V4.1
Customer gets some licensing errors stating they are not licensed. They have 4 machines however that all have licenses, i.e. SL7503801102111086. This license error is because this particular customer want to use OPC connection only as an OPC Gateway with his Advant system. The procedure described is for s.v. 4.1 and 5.1
For S.V. 4.1:
From Plant Explorer Workplace, select Object Type Structure:
Expand the tree: Object Types, Control System, MB300 Object Types, MB300 Process Objects, MB300 Control Objects, MB300 Dat
Select each of the four MB300 Dat types (DatB, DatI, DatIL, DatR) and complete the following:
Right-click Faceplate and select Properties. Select Aspect Details tab. For Inheritance, select Will not be inherited. Click OK. (Note: the reason for removing the Faceplate aspect is for licensing issues. Every faceplate is counted as one tag. Each server is licensed for only 100 tags. Removing faceplates prevents the license error window from popping-up every few minutes.)
Right-click Control (ExtendedControl for DatB) and select Properties. Select Aspect Details tab. Check the Default Aspect box. Click OK.
For S.V. 5.1:
Step 1.A: in the library structure go to "Advant Master Object Types Library" and select the "library version definition" aspect, in both libraries (VB6 and PG2)
step1.B : go to General Tab and select Open then hit apply
Step2: Same steps than for 4.1 but the properties option is renamed to details option.
