TNSListener error ORA-12504 - Domain name change effect to IM/Oracle.
Problem:
At the request of the customer, the Domain name of the 800xA system was changed. When this was done, the Domain names present in the "tnsnames.ora" and "listener.ora" files were correctly updated. However, the Domain name reference in the "sqlnet.ora" file did not get updated.
This caused the issue with Crystal Reports and the ORA-12504 error to appear. When attempting to execute a new Crystal Report, an error, ORA-12504, occured. This was verified by trying to log in as ...>sqlplus history/history@localhost.
Symptoms:- Crystal Reports opens with errorTNSListener error ORA-12504
Answers
Cause: Upgrade of 'sqlnet.ora' during Domain Name change failed.
Resolution: When the Domain name was changed at the request of the customer, the "sqlnet.ora" file associated with the Oracle DB appears not to have been updated. Once this was corrected, the SQL functions appear to be working correctly.
