Clarification regarding the discrepancy between actual product label and product documentation and whether or not the circuit breaker feeding the device needs to be changed to 20A as referenced in product manual. What is correct, the label on SS822 or the manual ? The answer is both.
> The manufacturer, Pulse Power, specifies “nominal” current 20 – 30 Ampere in the temperature range of 0 – 70 °C derating from + 60 °C. This has become the device label over time.
> The ABB product manual specifies the product's lower current value with an upper temperature range of +55 °C which can be viewed as a derating margin to ensure the expected useful life time.
> As a conclusion, it is possible to run at 30A up to +55 °C with the unit if that is what is intended, but a somewhat shorter life time can be expected than when using the manual's stated specifications.
