S800 IO Profibus & PC Network redundancy on AC900FR configuration
Hi All,
How to configure S800 IO Profibus redundancy, and PC Network (DigiVis) redundancy, on AC900FR environment?
1 st , S800 IO Profibus redundancy
Profibus cable has been arranged as attached Network connection diagram. I notice that secondary controller must be connected to the multi-drop RS485 Profibus network, otherwise “No secondary” warning appears on CBF (although Eth 2 of each AC900F controller has been enabled as redundancy link). I have enabled redundancy link feature for CI930F on CBF
Test scenario and indicators can be described as follows,
1) AC900FR redundancy has been worked.
a) 1 st PM902F; P/S indicator turn yellow, 2 nd PM902F P/S indicator turn orange
b) All CI930F; A&B indicator turn yellow
c) All S800 IO; Dual indicator turn yellow, one CI840 has been selected as Prim
2) To test 1 st controller power Fail condition, I switched off the power for Primary controller. The results,
a) 1 st PM902F turned off, 2 nd PM920F P/S indicator turn yellow
b) All CI930F; A indicator turn yellow, B indicator turn red (no redudancy link?)
c) All S800 IO; CI840 has been selected as Prim
d) On this state, communication to S800 IO fail when I remove the line A
Any idea about this condition?
2 nd , PC Network redundancy
I have a PC with 2 NIC card installed. I have not checked the detail, but I think it is regular NIC. My client require also PC network redundancy, so I have to configure redundant Freelance operation. I have checked Network configuration window, but unlike (for example) GWY type, VIS type does not have IP addr 1 and 2 (the 2 nd IP addr is disabled).
I think 2 things is required for Ethernet redundancy,
1) 2 (two) NIC card with 2 different logical IP address
2) Ethernet redundancy protocol
I have the first requirement. How can I configure the second requirement?

Hello Martin,
Seems you are on Freelance version 2013, Upgrade to version 2016 you will be able to use network redundancy, Note that you need to upgrade controller Firmware, too.
Regarding connection will read through in details your question description but please go through Freelance version 2016 manual 2PAA109295 M&I - AC 900F Controller.pdf, will clarify your questions...find few pages from that manual...check page 21 and 22.
Hope that helps...
Hi Martin,
Sorry Yesterday had replied to your question on working with some other ongoing stuff, So ignore that
Today went through detail question text...
So First question about Profibus... If Profibus line redundancy works then active line should show green status...Also LED RUN and STA should be green, In mentioned manual check on page 35 to 37 for CI930 LED status.
However while checking attached image of profibus line redundancy seems profibus line A(B1) and B(B2) get swapped between RIO5 and RIO6. That is not a recommended way of profibus line redundancy networking. Check image here To correct you need to swap profibus plugs B1 and B2 for RIO6 to RIO10.
Second question on ethernet redundancy for Operation,
You need to configure IP at two places one @ CBF network configuration LineA IPaddress1(same as NIC1 IP) LineB IPaddress1(same as NIC2 IP) and second @ Freelance Operation PC via configure tool at general setting, LineA(same as NIC1) IP/LineB(same as NIC2) IP. Check image below...
As per my understanding...
It's fine for Freelance Operation Line A/B IPaddress2 is disabled, as IPaddress2 is used when there is hw or resource redundancy is there, Incase of AC 900FR and Redundant GWY you add redundant object in HW tree and there you need four IP address two for Primary/Secondary + two for line redundancy of Primary and secondary so it's total Four IP's.
that's why in Project tree you are not adding Redundant D-OS resource. There only line redundancy is applicable. Hope that clarifies.
Feel free to write back if problem persists...
Hello again Summit,
Sorry, I have to make new Answer so I can attach screenshoot. About the first problem, I have installed the Profibus cable correctly, so just need to revise the document as built. Thank you for your notice.
FYI, we have 11 rack of S800 IO. We have tried several scenario to test its Profibus connection, and figured out that the problem arrise when we enabled “Profibus Line Redundancy”.
1) Communication between controller and Remote IO seems unstable (please see attached image “Slave unstable”). Warning notification from slave 5 to 11 keep changing (blinking). Please inform also, what does “Diagnostic data present/overflow” means?
2) Forced IO always reset after several seconds, and the controller tried to find the stable connection by toggling Primary and Secondary controller.
3) “IPrim/Sec toggle by fieldbus communication” is written to the Event log
The communication was okay, when we only used Line A. Profibus master configuration are attached. I thought there is problem with Line B, but we can do “Scan bus” successfully using that line. So I think there is problem related to Profibus timing. Any idea about this problem?
Thank you in advance,
Martinus
