How to restrict & provide rights to operate/access in graphics for particular application of a programme.
We have recently installed ABB 800 xa DCS in our plant. There are two controller AC 800 M (PM891) with which we have install CI854 module. This two controller with three profibus master connected with each controller covers different block of the plant. We are using control builder version 5 in which we have created different application for each block. We want user to have a rights in graphics to operate the system for his particular block only. He should not be able to operate other areas of the plant. How to do this in graphics or control builder.
For example, we have provided 13 workstation distrbuted amongs various block.
each block is having two workstation.
We want user to have a right to operate from the graphics for his block only. He should not be able to operate object which is configured under different block from his workstation

Please see the description of Security Definitions in the manuals. There is a very extensive description of how security works in an 800xA system.
Security is provided in two ways ....
- You can restrict which operators are allowed to log onto a workstation and provide different workplaces for each workstation.
- Security Definition Aspects control which operators are alowed to operate an object. An operator graphic belongs to an object. By setting a security definition for an object or group of objects, you can restrict which operators are allowed to actualy use a graphic and the objects on that graphic. In your case the groups should be quite easy, since all the objects for an area are in the same controller.
Operate allowed by Operator from Clients OS2 & OS4

Operate denied by Operator from Clients OS1 & OS3

Resulting Security Definition aspect:
