Using MMS protocol for communication between AC800 and BRC's
My apologies re: mentioning that speed was an issue for this pharmaceutical customer.
There was a little confusion on my part there so disregard the speed issue I mentioned.
The customer is more concerned about having a more robust interface than ModBus TCP can provide re security of data transfer, use of semaphore to control accessed objects, transfering SIL based data between controllers as well as having more flexibility re variable transfer that MMS protocol would provide. From documentation I have been looking at it appears as though it would be possible to develop software to transfer data between AC800M's and BRC's using MMS protocol.

" Programming a BRC410 is way outside my field, sorry. But in general, this is something you would need to talk to your ABB account manager about. Whether ABB see any value in implementing MMS for S+ is something I couldn't comment on. IMHO I don't think programming this link as an unofficial third party solution is very viable since SIL certification, long term maintenance and stability of the code could be problematic"
