How to connect IPAD in Freelance
Voted best answer
When it comes to connecting any tablet to Freelance system there is always one question You must answer: what sort of function will it provide? Is it for remote operation You need it to show graphics like in Freelance Operations (DigiVis) or maybe You need only to see the graphics, without a possibility to operate or maybe all that's needed is access to some diagnostic data/OPC/PS web interface?
Whatever the reason, You need to remember two things:
Firstly, You've chosen iOS platform, which means You can't install any Freelance components on this device. You would need some sort of Remote Desktop software to connect with Local station which will be able to give You access to system.
Secondly, this device will probably be the weakest link in You system network. Not only this devices can't connect with not-WiFi networks, but also are (in most cases) not really safe (not to mention it is simply a portable device, which always poses additional threat). Unless You will use some kind of DMZ or at least firewall, You will need to have an access point in Your Freelance network and a tablet connected straight into it.
Well, I could write a whole book on this topic, but that's the basics.
Hope this helps,
