Maximum number of signals for each type of controller
I want to know which is the allowed maximum number of signals for each type of AC 800M Controller (PM851, PM856, ..., PM891). I looked for this information in the manuals, but I didn't find it. I want to generate a table with this data, so I can determinate a priori the adecquate controller according to the number of signals that I have in each case.

The memory and CPU bottlenecks are hard to predict without knowing more parameters:
- Choice of application library (several standard, BU-specific and 3rd party exists)
- Choice of program execution speed (100ms, 500ms, 1000ms, etc)
- Choice of IO (modulebus, ProfiBus, etc)
- Communication requirements with peer CPUs and HMI (quantity, speed, etc)
Your controller's maximum performance will heavily depend on the above.
Please find the attached drawing from the manual. It describes the physical maximum allowed number of modules, which can be connected to the AC800M CPU.
But please pay attention - as Stefan answered, the maximum number of modules depends and it is limited more from application, application load, performance, redundancy and so on of the CPU and other "software" factors, more than from physical limitations
