How to bypass Freelance OPC Tunnel
As you know Freelance OPC Tunnel is a new functionality which is released in V9.2,it makes OPC DCOM configuration very simple, but it requires OPC Tunnel installed on both sides,in some situations it's not allowed to install OPC Tunnel on third party computers.
So I am wondering if there is a workaround to bypass OPC Tunnel,OPC server talks to client directly just like how it works in previous version.

I believe you can not bypass the OPC tunnel, because the client is always part of CBF and DigiVis. These programs will always use the tunnel.
The option in the setup where you can select the tunnel is the tunnel server only which needs to be installed on the same PC where the OPC server is.
The fact, that with an OPC gateway the tunnel is not mandatory is simply because the OPC gateway usually is used for 3rd party OPC clients or 800xA. Those clients don't use the tunnel, so no need to install the tunnel server.
If a Trendserver is selected, usually DigiVis is the client and DigiVis uses the Tunnel. Therefore the tunnel server is automatically selected too.
It is an interesting question, I assume one way is not to use OPC tunnel both the side. It is interesting to know while installing servers and getways in freelance if user selects OPC gateway, ABB OPC tunnel feature appears optional i.e user can select\deselect.Where as if use select both OPC gateway and trend server then ABB OPC tunnel is mandatory to use. I have never noticed this option, I was always using OPC tunnel. (check image below)
So I assume do not select ABB OPC tunnel while installation and get interface over DCOM as in previous version.
But it's interesting to know if OPC tunnel is used in freelance setup and for one particular thirdparty client needs to be connected over DCOM then what is work around ?
