Alarms & Events Presentation
I want to view the alarms/events for a particular instrument for example a pressure transmitter (P101) for the last six or eight months. When i click the alarms or events list from the 800xA workplace, i have a limitation to view only 500 alarms in one look. What i want is to filter out P101 transmitter's alarm (PALL) for last 8 months. I tried Runtime Atribute Filter but its returning nothing (blank screen) appears. Please guide the exact syntax or a way to filter out a particular alarm from the "alarms/events list" to see its historical alarm status. System 800xA does not have any alarm history function per se. Alarms vanishes from the system when the condition return to idle state (Enabled, Inactive, Acknowledged).
You must view this data as events (all alarms are converted into events and stored by the Event Storage service).
Per default 10.000 events are stored per category, e.g. Process Condition Event (process alarms for AC 800M) but can be increased to 50.000 events. These events are FIFO shared by all objects emitting events of this category.
Whether you get 8 months from a storage of 10.000 - 50.000 events is hard to tell. It depends on how many objects that emit A&E, and how often. I've been to sites where 50.000 event wrapped in less than 6 hours due to extreme flow from the process.
The built in event list can only show 500 events per page.
With Excel and DataDirect you can use the ABBAERetrieval() function to output events into a spreadsheet. Please read the IM Data Access and Reports User's Guide. DataDirect is part of the core system, you do not need an IM to access A&E this way.
An IM Message Log may store up to 12.000.000 events and are accessible via various Oracle interfaces, e.g. raw SQL into MS Access, etc.
