Free programmable communication card for TCP UDP based protocolsAre
We need to develop an special communication protocol based on a TCP stack.
We have this protocol developed on C++. Are there exists a free programmable module for AC800M where we can integrate our communication protocol.
I am asking for a card like the MVI interface in the old AC450 controllers, but with ethernet interface instead of RS232.
Unfortunately I believe the answer is no.
TCP/UDP communication support exist in AC 800M, but only the builtin Ethernet ports can be used.
Several CEXbus modules with singular or redundant Ethernet ports exist, but programming them require internal programming tools.
Speak with your regional ABB sales representative - he/she could inquire about access to such special tools.
An alternative could be to use an ABB NE870 or NE871 RNRP router to connect the remote network to the control network in a safe & controlled manner. The NE87x's firewall and routing table could be set to limit traffic and access to a subset of ports and hosts only. Still, an attacker could use the external connection to inject telegrams to disturb the communication or controller (eg a DOS-attack). The ABB NE87x RNRP routers are just about to be released, if not already in the price books. RNRP is not required on the external net.
