Freelance 2013 SP1 - DigiVis
In one of my project we have follwowing requirement from customer in Freelance system. We are using Freelance 2013 SP1 software.
In DigiVis graphics(FGR) how can I show the status of network devices connected to switch from where I am connecting AC900F Controller also.
I need to make a system configuration drwaing of my project where number of ethernet based devices are connected in a network. How can I make or take the input of such devices in a controller. or how can it be shown in graphics(FGR).
If not directly what is the workaround for this.
There is a requirement of no of users with different roles.
Is it possible for a user to authorise a operator user to see the alarm, but that particular operator should not be able to acknowledge or clear it.
acknowledgment should be done by a supervisor level user.
At operator level in Freelance system operator should be able to do the followings
Generation of reports
Monitoring of screens as decided by administrator
Administrator should be able to define access to various GUI(FGR) for different level of user based on job profile
In Digivis regarding any user how we can acheive following
Password valid for fix period and auto locked after that,
resetting only by administrator,
3 wrong entry and password locked.
If there is no direct solution to this, what can be the workaround for this.

That's some requirement list You have there. Let's get started:
1. Freelance has a function block for checking the connection status of system stations/resources, but as far as I understand You need to check the status of non-Freelance devices, right? This all depends on the devices themselfs. If they show/send the diagnostic data You need and have a way to connect with system (Modbus RTU or TCP, OPC?), then there will be no problem. If you need Freelance to diagnose those devices, then there is a problem. You would need to use some kind of 3rd party software that would get the data from network devices and was able to feed them into system.
2. Freelance uses Security Lock for User Management. An Administrator with Security Lock password and access can set up multiple user groups with different access rights to every screen/display and faceplate, so most likely it will be sufficient for this requirement.
3. As described above the Administrator can create multiple groups, which can work as Your "job profiles". The administrator is also able to resetr user password. As for the other two requirements... well, they aren't supported by Security Lock/Freelance and I would think twice befor implementing them, as they seem a bit dangerous in an industrial plant control system that runs 24/7. Just think what can happen if a user forgets to change his password and one day he is lock out from system - he can't work and there is no normal plant operation. Or even worse - think about all those stressful situations, like breakdowns and accidents, when You need the operator the most and the probability of him making 3 wrong password inputs only becouse of urgency/stress is quite real... and if you still want a workaround I have bad news for You. The Security Lock users data base is encrypted, so there is no easy way to write a script that would do what You need. There isn't much that can be done with this - You would need to add another authentication step at the operation system (windows) level. There You can set up a proper user password policy, but the Security Lock password will be fixed and every operator would need to logout for the OS authentication after work, so I don't think this would work at all. Maybe someone else will have a better idea? I myself believe You should discuss the dangers of such a requirements with Your client and see if they really want it...
Hope this was at least a bit helpful,
