AC800 IAC configuration - Auto resolve or specific IP address to configure
Is there any recommendation on IP configuration for IAC variables? The only recommendation I find so far in the standard documentation is from the safety manual stating that "For IAC communication between different PPA Systems, the IP addresses must be explicitly defined."
The reason for above recommendation appear to be because Auto resolve works within an 800xA system using FSD service.
For IAC variables within one 800xA system, what is the recommendation?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using Auto resolve rather than manually configuring IP address?
Many project I have worked on always had IAC as auto resolve. Advantage is clear. In case you change controller IP address there is no need to reprogram IAC table. Also logic can be easily moved between applications in different controllers.
I dont know any disadvantage of using Auto resolve.
As per the recommendation and as my experience auto resolve will be used for IAC variables within the system since IAC works on UDP it looks for the variables of same case within the aspect directory so it will resolve faster and if you look at the different system u should use ip for auto resolve since names of var belongs to different aspect directory to talk each other and for sil u should use expected sil level in both the system or between the non-sil and sil application s within the system
