AC800M Redundant Controllers communication error
Hello everybody.
we have an installation with 2 redundant AC800M PM861 controllers. We are not using implicit RNRP addresses (i.e. 172.16.x.x) but 10.29.35.31 for the primary CPU and 10.29.35.231 for the secondary CPU.Althought the redundant mode is enabled the ethernet port reports a 'No communication BackUp CPU' error.I am afraid that the settings for routing method and RNRP are not correct. How can i correctly configure redundant CPUs when they are not using implicit addressing ?
Best Regards

Hello,
Since you are using Class A IP address SCheme with /24 means first 3 octets represents the Network ID & 4th octet indicate the host ID.
Where as in your case 10.29.35.31 with 255.255.255.0 here the Host ID you have entered in the CN1 is Ok & for CN2 you have changed the Host ID as 32 it means you have entered the IP address as 10.29.35.32 /24 and in node number you have entered as 31 so its not communicating & since Red.AC800M controller will run with same node number with hot standby, So give the Ip address with same node number with network ID defferent for CN1 & Cn2.
In your case you have selected the class A/24 net mask then
CN1:10.29.35.31 here node number-31 and give the path-0 in the CN1 settings
means IP range starts from:10.29.35.1 to 10.29.35.254
CN2:10.29.36.31 here node number -31 and path no-1 since its different network
means IP range starts from:10.29.36.1 to 10.29.36.254
For RNRP to work you have to do the following:
Set the same address for your PC to get communicate with Controllers.
a)On Base Parameters tab, change "Number of used explicit addr tabs" from 0 to x.(x:2,4etc based on the number of network connections needs RNRP monitoring like plant network & Control network AC800M not for FF network since it doesn't support RNRP
b) On Explicit Address 0 tab,
Enter the IP address of PN1 and subnet mask
Select Network Area (range 0-31)
Select Path number 0
Select Node number
c) On Explicit Address 1 tab,
Enter the IP address of PN2 and subnet mask
Select Network Area (range 0-31)
Select Path number 1
Select Node number
d) Restart RNRP
Verify that RNRP monitor detects both NICs properly:
