800xA 4.1 Graphics update rate Problem from OPC
800xA System 4.1 build 4001 and AC800 PEC controllers with redundant domain/Aspect/Connectivity(CS1,CS2,CS3) and 10 Operator/Engineering Clients.CS1,CS2,CS3 all are located in different location but all are intergrated .ALL domain/Aspect/Connectivity have redundant network ,However operator/Engineering clients have only primay network.simliarly Controllers have only primary C-Net.
Now the problem is with updation rate for Graphics wherein whenever operator Keyin any value he has to wait for 20-30s to reflect that value in controller and back in graphics.
Which is seriously affecting plant operation.
CN1 (Control Network) IP are in range 172.16.0.XXX
CN2 (Control Network) IP are in range 172.17.0.XXX
ON1 (Cilent/server) IP are in range 172.16.4.XXX
ON2 (Client/Server) IP are in range 172.17.4.XXX
I have done a small check with update rate in OPC setting of one controller where in for String type update rate was 10000MS which means whenever operator enters any string value it will update to controller after 10-15s seconds and same to reflect it back in Graphics it will take another 15s.This test was carried with controller online for particular graphics.
Can any one suggest where exactly could be the problem ?
There may be many reasons for the slow response of the system,
One general problem is with the Network speed.
Can you check Network speed for all the NIC cards on Servers, Clients and Switch?
It should be same for example: If NIC Client/Server n/w1 on CS1 is 100MBPS Full Duplex, it should be same on the switch port where CS1 is connected and all the nodes should also have the same speed for Client/Server nw1.
For Controller AC800M, Speed should be (CN network) 10MBPS Half Duplex in switch and CS server CN NIC.
Hope this will help in improving the response of the system.
Strings have 10 second update rate in the AC 800M OPC Server. This is per design to avoid overload.
Does numeric attributes (integer, float, boolean) take same amount of time to transfer?
AFAIK the OPC and later AC 800M OPC Server update rate does not affect the speed by which writes are performed.
For numerical attributes the default OPC Update Rate in AC 800M Connect is 1 second which in a default configured AC 800M OPC Server is converted to a MMS read every 500 millieseconds.
The rate can be changed upwards/downwards from within a process graphic. To rule out involvement from graphics, subscribe for live data in Control Module / Function Block when fault tracing.

Don't rule out involving your regional ABB support team which should be able assist you with tracking down what delays the updates in the HMI.
