TimeSync for AC800M and 800xA
800xA 6.0 and AC800M HI controllers.
All controllers are setup with CNCP, two of them (for redundancy) are masters.
800xA system is setup default.
Manual says that the best way to set the time in the system is by using ControlBuilder's Tools/Maintenance/Clock Sync/Set Time function, however this menu item does not exist.
Is this due to wrong setup or buggy manual ?
Some hints of how to set the time ?
AFAIK, going online with CNCP master CPU and using SetTime function block (part of Slow task in a default controller) is second best method.
Best is if CNCP master uses external SNTP reference clock.
CBM Set Time requires the CS Time Set setting to be enabled in the CPU. This works but is less desired since method does not require authentication - in fact a MMS broadcast is able to change time, regardless if friend or foe sent it. Personally, I recommend having CS Time Set disabled.
User manual (at least 5.1) "recommend" time loop... :-(
AC 800 CNCP master slaves to SNTP server running in connectivity server; connectivity server is in parallel running AfwTime which in a default config slaves to CNCP -> loop warning!!!
Disable AC800 Time Adapter and you should be set (but remember installing an AC 800 Connect revision or rollup may reactivate Time Adaptor again!).
