800xA Advant Master Time Lagging
Currently we are facing the Time Lagging problemin our control System.Our Control System Consist of Advant MAster 800xA System comprise of 10 nodes having Advant 450,410 controllers.We are facing the time lagging probelm in our the system.As our Time has been lagged into almost 1 hour.Now i want to synchronize the time .I have that i have to change the time through clock master.and set the time using SDATIME command.
I want to know that how can i find the clock master in my system. and Is it safe to use SDATIME to advant controllers in running Advant Control System.
Using SDATIME will not fix your problem. The root cause is that your time synch settings are not correct. So while using SDATIME might fix things temporarily, the problem will return.( And probably at 3 am on a sunday morning )
Are you using Advant Operator Stations or 800xA ? The procedures for setting up a clock master are different for these systems. If you have a mix of Advant OS and 800xA you need to be carefull that the two systems dont collide.
Whether it is "safe" to use SDATIME is not something I can answer without knowing more about your system. If everything is configured correctly and the AC400 time synch settings are for one controller to be the clock master, then using SDATIME should work correctly. The clock master is the last controller that was used to set the time. When a new master is selected a message should appear in the system message log.However, if your time is badly wrong, then something isn't set properly somewhere. If you are "almost an hour" wrong then is this a daylight savings problem ? Go through all your controllers and check the "CLOCKSYNCH" database elements. Also check the "CLOCKSYNCH" elements in the RTA Boards on your connectivity servers and Advant OS. See the DB element reference manual for a description of the element properties. If you have Advant OS Only, then it should simple be a case of setting the time on an OS. If you have 800xA then read section 2 of the Advant Master Configuration Manual for details on how to set the RTA board and Time Synch settings.
Agree with Rob's answer.
MasterView 800 startup message is still valid for xA - "Please set date and time"!
MB300 clock master require time set from HMI (or reverse synk).
- Shall a controller be master timekeeper (bring up time to xA)?
- Shall xA be master timekeeper (bring time down* to MB300)?
*) a.k.a. "reverse sync"
1) Set all the CLS1/Clocksynch elements as you desire (master capable, receive mode, send capable).
2) If reverse synking, change direction as per Advant Master config manual
3) Set time via HMI to cause the lowest numbered node with CLS (True,X,1) assume master and second lowest backup master.
Hint: 3) can be done from Online Builder connected to the-to-become-master node by issuing this command (check time/date with RDATIME first!)
* RET CXAE000,10
The by far preferred clock sync method is to have a CI855 module on an AC 800M to act as master. Reverse synking has less acurracy and have had questionable reliability in older versions of xA.
