Panel 800 PP845 - Uploading/Retrieving
Morning guys
Never used ABB HMI's before so please be kind :)
We have an old ABB Panel 800 PP845 on site which will not acknowledge and clear old alarms.
i wanted to wipe the screen and reload a backup - but i want to take a backup on what is on it at the moment.
My first hurdle - communications, from the laptop - can a straight Ethernet cable be used and it will auto detect? (like TIA Portal) - i cannot seem to establish a connection......or do i need to use a Ethernet to USB converter?
i read somewhere about a CB810 (3BSE042255R1)??

Hi,
You can use an UTP cable, normal one.
All the cables are described in manuals, e.g. 3BSE043447R501.
If you don't know the IP address, it is visible during re-booting (power cycle).
Or alternative is serial RS232 cable.
You can upload the existing project in the panel, by using of Panel Builder software (if it is not password protected by other).
By my experience, PP845 is a good and reliable model.

Hello
Adding to the above comments,

After this another pop up will prompt
Note that 192.168.1.1 is the default ip, configure the required ip for PP through Boot(service) menu by enabling the dip switch at position 1-0-0-0.
This IP is only to transfer/receive the program from PP.
If you are getting server error please configure the required Network Peripherals

Above shown is the instance for Profibus. for Control Network Protocol, please give the controller IP.

Also Check Application Transfer Server and Terminal Controller in Network Services.
At last Test the project. If your project is valid then there will be smooth transfer. If prompted error kindly troubleshoot.
CB801 is the Profibus module which will be connected behind the PP if you are following Profibus Protocol.
Adding to the above comments,
- How is your PP communicating with controller whether it is in profibus or control network?
- Licensed version doesn't have any dependencies on collecting backup from existing program loaded in PP or downloading the modified program.
- i am unable to upload from the connected screen though? - Are you finding difficulty in loading the program or taking the Backup from PP.
- i don't get the option to select or edit a target- You don't have to edit any target it will be auto detected by PP once you have established communication between Laptop and PP. (by serial or Ethernet)
