Impact on time synchronization during Migration of Unix -OS to 800XA
We are migrating to Unix -OS to 800XA migration , where looking for parallel operation of UNIX and 800XA together for some time .
Existing System:
UNIX-OS ( Time Maste
AC450
Safeguard
Upgrade System:
800XA 6.1 +RTA Board
New system setup like below:
1) Advent Connectivity server acting as time master Afwtime server) getting time from GPS
2) RTA Board is set to act as time master in RTA configuration ( CLS data base is set (1,0,1) both primary and secondly connect server)
- What steps/configuration we need to start with when migrating with out impacting the time synchronization or any other function?
- When have faced issue in acknowledging the alarm ( Multiple times acknowledge need to be pressed or wait for longer time to get the alarm

This is called Reverse Synchronization Mode (when PU410/RTA takes time from its host instead of vice versa) and a detailed description is waiting for you in the Network Configuration User's Guide.
The GPS time can be easily be brought into the AfwTime Service master using the Win32Time service's NtpClient function. The reverse sync function is operational even when AfwTime is in Standby state so you can wire in GPS time in any server you like as long as AfwTime is in Service state where you do, but I recommend selecting the computer hosting the PU410 in Reverse Sync Mode to shorten the path and reduce number of relaying stations.
