MODBUS signals from AC500 into 800xA
We are working now on the project and our aim is to integrate AC500 controller via Modbus into 800xA (without M-controller). The program will be in AC500, graphic HMI in 800xA PG2.
We don't want to use any kind of extra libraries (as AC500 connect, etc), any kind of extra device (gateway, etc.)
Have you done anything with MODBUS driver in 800xA (PLC Connect)? Can you share some info on how to proceed in that case, please? Or do you have any used real examples from previous projects?
PLCConnect manual is not well written in my opinion, therefore I would like to see real work flows, real experience.
Thanks for any help, hints, contact persons.
Why you don't try with AC500 OPC server, you should be able to get the data from it directly in 800xA? Never tried that in practice, but it have to work.
I used such to connect AC500 to non-ABB HMI/SCADA which acts as OPC Client.
My experience is with connecting of AC500 to AC800M, by means of serial COM3 or trough CI867 and Modbus TCP/IP. Both available in AC500
The attached doc is the address for the Modbus. Kindly check you can also check it from the help in 800xA
And you said 10000 Tags from the PLC. Which are those all are Real Values? I don't think an AC500 PLC Can have that much memory! or bytes? bool?
Kindly check the doc there is how to address each element like Bool, Byte, Real, etc...

I have attached 2 images. One is addressing %MD0.9 as HRA18, REAL and the other is HRA18 which corresponds to the %MW0.18
And you ask for Arrays! I hope you need to connect each tag as per Modbus address that you have given in the PLC
I am trying my best to help you if you still have issues kindly let me know in details so that if I knew I will try to sort it out
